The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers have pulled off their third-consecutive upset, knocking off seven seed Nevada 69-68 to advance to the Elite Eight.

Absolute madness.

The 11-seed Loyola-Chicago Ramblers are moving on to the Elite Eight after defeated seven-seed Nevada by the score of 69-68.

The Ramblers got off to a slow start, trailing 20-8 at one point in the first half. However Clayton Custer and the Ramblers went on a run, closing out the first half on a 20-4 run, taking a 28-24 lead into the locker room.

Loyola hit their first 12 — twelve — shots to start out the second half before Cody Martin and the Nevada Wolfpack went on a run, storming back from a 12-point deficit to tie the game at 59 with four minutes to go.

Despite a whopping 16 turnovers, Loyola managed to slow the game down to their pace, taking a three-point lead on an Aundre Jackson three ball with just under three minutes to play.

The Ramblers wouldn’t look back from there, taking a one point lead into the final minute. Again the Wolfpack made it close, thanks to a combined 37 points from Caleb and Cody Martin.

The stage was set for yet another final possession shot, but junior guard Marques Townes shut the door with a huge three with six seconds left, extending the Loyola lead to four, one that would hold up despite a late three by Nevada.

Townes led the Ramblers with 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting to go along with 5 assists. The Ramblers depth was key in the victory, especially on an off night for star senior Donte Ingram.

Loyola-Chicago advances to their first Elite Eight since 1963 with the win. The Ramblers will play the winner of the Kentucky vs Kansas State game, as the winner will advance to the Final Four.
