The Chicago Bears roster is taking shape, but some positions more than others will require hefty competition to solidify starters.

Following the major signings in free agency, Ryan Pace and his coaching staff have a much tougher job to do. The Chicago Bears still have a decent amount of cap space, and can bring in a few more free agents, but part of the focus must now shift to the 2018 NFL Draft.

As the draft nears closer and closer, roster positions are coming a bit more clear in some areas. Obviously, it is an enormous advantage this day in age to know who your franchise quarterback is at this point. Several teams have no idea what their answer to that question is — the Bears do.

Mitchell Trubisky has benefited greatly from free agent additions, but there are other areas on the roster that aren’t exactly set in stone. Of course, by now, you can probably pinpoint a couple of positions that will need some love. The Bears will certainly address these in the coming weeks, but in contrast, they have positions that will heed fierce competition as we speak.

Aside from the obvious starters like Trubisky and the bigger names already on the roster, there are plenty of players who are already competing for a starting job. Most of them are smart enough to know there is no offseason and the work must begin now — because, like free agency and the draft always proves, you are never safe.

Which positions are most intriguing as we speak? That’s what we will dive into here. These are just five position battles that are either already boast competition or need a lot of help yet.
