1. Mitch Trubisky will throw for 4,000 yards

Originally, I was going to go with Trubisky completing more than 65% of his passes next season as a bold prediction. Then, I realized that’s not actually that bold.

In fact, within Nagy’s offense, that should be the target and perhaps the expectation.

This scheme will be centered around keeping defenses off-balanced and using selective shots to maximize Trubisky’s strengths in the short and intermediate passing game. Plus, Ryan Pace just went and grabbed him a bunch of versatile, reliable targets that can get open in any variety of ways.

In short, why wouldn’t we expect his accuracy to show up prominently?

But predicting that he’ll set a new single-season Chicago Bears record and pass a milestone no Bears quarterback ever has?

That’s more like it.

Now, this assumes that Trubisky will stay healthy all 16 games, which obviously will require some luck. But if he can do that, 250 yards a game isn’t necessarily going to be crazy in this offense.

After all, Nagy (along with Andy Reid) got Alex Smith over 4,000 yards for the first time in his career last season. And if you take the whole into account, the Bears may have a more complete array of weapons, especially at the receiver position.

He won’t have to throw for 300 yards every week to get this done (obviously). Truthfully, we wouldn’t want that anyway, as it would likely mean the Bears are losing a lot.

But around 4,100 yards for the season? That’s doable.

And if Trubisky hits that, consider him very much arrived. No more questions, thank you.
