1. Chase Daniel

Experience: 10th season

Career stats: 1 TD, 1 INT, 81.1 rating

If you told me that I could guarantee myself $24 million in earnings over just nine years, and all I would have to do is throw 78 career passes, I would gladly oblige.

Chase Daniel has done just that. The 31-year old veteran has been with three teams over the years and hasn’t ever had to do a whole lot. But, the factor that has always been there for Daniel is his ability to lead.

Daniel is well-liked, well-respected and is a man of integrity. If nothing else, those characteristics belong in a locker room one way or another.

He has always had potential as an NFL quarterback, but was never able to get over that hump with enough momentum to convince coaches he’s good enough to be a starter. In college, Daniel started three seasons for Missouri. he threw for over 12,000 yards,100 touchdowns and just 39 picks during that span. His freshman year for the Tigers was spent as a backup.

On top of all the likability, Daniel did indeed spend some time with Nagy in Kansas City.

All jokes and shockingly short stat lines aside, Daniel would make a lot of sense for Chicago. Out of all of these guys, he would probably command the highest salary. But, that wouldn’t necessarily mean he’s out of the question. Daniel wouldn’t need starter’s money, of course. But, he’s proven to be an asset for years now, and that is worth something.

I would not be shocked to see Nagy and Pace go after Daniel in the coming days. In fact, I bet they do. The Bears wouldn’t be the only team, I’m sure, but it just might end up being a desirable situation for Daniel with the familiarity and potential for a real mentorship type of role for him.
