Chicago Bears: Top 5 most likely candidates in first round of NFL Draft
By Ryan Heckman
Now that the NFL Combine has come and gone, which of the top prospects are not only most likely to fall to the Chicago Bears, but are also a good fit?
The 2018 NFL Combine was one for the record books. We saw plenty of unique talent and unforgettable stories unfold among all of the up-and-coming future pros. The Chicago Bears hold the eighth overall pick in this year’s draft, and the combine certainly made it apparent who could be called at that spot.
As I begin writing this, the Bears have officially placed the transition tag on cornerback Kyle Fuller. It is almost certain that this clarifies their draft strategy a lot more. Fortunately for Chicago, they are not in all-out desperation mode for the position anymore.
Of course, there is always the chance a team makes an offer that the Bears don’t match — but according to Ryan Pace and his position on the matter, that’s not likely.
While they are happy to be trending in the right direction with Fuller, his presence doesn’t necessarily mean the Bears are out of the running for a cornerback in round one. That scenario is still quite likely.
But, with the top seven picks featuring a good amount of quarterback-needy teams, it sure looks like the Bears will have their pick from a fantastic group of players in the first round. Just who could those guys be?
Here is my take on that question as I give you the top five most likely candidates to hear their name called at number eight overall.
