Chicago Bears: Transition tag a win-win situation for Kyle Fuller
By Ryan Heckman
It is official. The Chicago Bears are placing the transition tag on cornerback Kyle Fuller. This is a win for both sides.
Well, there it is folks. Kyle Fuller remains with our beloved Chicago Bears. The long-awaited decision has been made to keep him around, which they have said multiple times they’d like to do.
It has been a whirlwind of an offseason for fans awaiting the decision on Fuller, but finally, we can all breathe easy. Fuller will be a Bear for at least 2018, if not longer.

This is a phenomenal outcome for both Fuller and the Bears. The Bears are able to match any deal for Fuller, allowing them to keep the power on their side.
Fuller has flourished over the last year under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. In 2017, he was one of the top rated cornerbacks via Pro Football Focus, and even better overall against the deep ball. He ranked second overall against such throws.
With Fuller’s status now a bit more clear, it will be time for Ryan Pace to address the question of who will be starting opposite number 23. Will it be a free agent splash like Trumaine Johnson? Could it be Denzel Ward or Josh Jackson in this year’s 2018 NFL Draft?
Either way, now that they have Fuller under control, it will be imperative that they solidify their other corner spot.
Fuller’s camp now has until July 15th to figure out a long-term deal with the Bears. With four months to negotiate, I’m sure both sides won’t waste any time in hopes that they can get it done sooner rather than later.
