Chicago Bears: Should we panic over Kyle Fuller news?
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears reportedly will not use the franchise tag on Kyle Fuller. Should fans now panic?
Per Brad Biggs, the Bears will not use the franchise tag on cornerback Kyle Fuller and now the Chicago Bears face a decision. Do they give him a long-term deal or let him test the market?
Ryan Pace may wind up making a huge mistake.
It is already well-known that Fuller had his best year as a pro in 2017 and helped solidify a top-10 defense for Vic Fangio and the Bears. You can look up the numbers. He was fantastic.
If Chicago lets him walk, it is absolutely time to panic if you’re a Bears
fan. While Fuller reportedly wants to stay in Chicago, I will not let that feel-good news change my mind one way or another. Until it’s set in stone, or better yet ink-to-paper, I am not swaying either way.
Sure, it took some time. But, I think Fangio’s presence has done wonders for the former Virginia Tech product.

What is clear, though, is that Pace is taking his time with this one. Why, though? It’s quite confusing to me why a team wouldn’t make every effort to keep a home-grown kid like Fuller, who is just now blossoming into one of the better corners in football.

If Fuller doesn’t return, the next step would be to get Trumaine Johnson in a Bears uniform. Outside of him, the Bears don’t have solidified options via free agency and would likely be settling for an average veteran paired with a rookie next season.
