It’s no secret the Chicago Bears would be interested in Allen Robinson if he becomes a free agent.  Based on recent events, that could be a reality soon.

The Chicago Bears are desperately looking to improve its wide receiver corps.  Unfortunately for them, the free agent market isn’t that deep.  However, based on some recent social media activity, Allen Robinson may be hitting the market soon.

On Tuesday, our own Jason Kinander detailed an interesting post from Robinson’s Instagram account.  In the post, the standout wide receiver was wearing a Chicago Cubs jersey.  Below the picture was the caption “Believe me when I say I’m doin just fine!”

At the time, many wondered whether Robinson was trying to send a message.  Well, today the picture became a little clearer.  It now appears that Robinson will likely be hitting the free agent market, though it was believed the Jacksonville Jaguars would place the franchise tag on him following his ACL injury.

However, an interesting tweet from RosterWatch has Bears fans in a lather tonight.  It’s important to note about an hour after the tweet below, Robinson tweeted out “you reap what you sow.”

Word is, the Jaguars intend to keep Marqise Lee and not place the franchise tag on Robinson.  Lee is definitely the cheaper option, which might be a need after the Blake Bortles contract extension.  In this case, the Jaguars’ loss could most certainly be the Chicago Bears’ gain.  Robinson would instantly become the best free agent wide receiver on the market (remember Jarvis Landry is still tagged).

He would also become the best free agent option for the Bears.  Robinson is a big bodied receiver with excellent hands.  He also has the ability to take the top of the defense and would give the Bears a deep threat — something they sorely lack.

Even better news for the Bears is that it seems like he would come relatively cheap considering his talent level.  If Chicago was somehow able to secure Robinson for $12 million per year it would give them an elite receiver without breaking the bank.  With so many needs, the Bears could use every extra free agent dollar to fill those gaps.

With each passing day, it looks like Allen Robinson will become a free agent.  With a strong ally/recruiter in Adrian Amos (a fellow Penn State alum), the Bears will be all in on him.  It appears the Bears could be in very good shape to land him.
