Notre Dame Football: Will top 2018 recruits make big splashes?
Notre Dame football, as always, draws exciting talent from all over the country. Here’s a look at which top recruits from the 2018 class might make the most noise come the fall.
After a tough ending to last season, Notre Dame definitely wanted a strong recruiting class to help get them over the College Football Playoff hump — as yet, the Irish haven’t yet made a playoff.
Hopefully, a No. 8-ranked incoming class of high school recruits can keep them trending in the right direction.
Notre Dame pulled together a 2018 recruiting class that featured eight All-American selections, 10 guys in Rivals.com’s Top 250 and 11 players in ESPN’s Top 300 list.
In addition to grabbing a high-profile quarterback (Phil Jurkovec) and a couple of the best defensive backs in the country (Houston Griffith, Derrik Allen), they also shored up positions of need with quality signings from recruits like defensive backs Noah Boykin and DJ Brown and wide receivers Micah Jones and Kevin Austin.

Though all of these players must adjust to the college game, don’t sleep on them. Whether due to open competitions, pure talent or both, a few of these kids could make some noise in the spring and summer.
And if they do, Brian Kelly has shown that he doesn’t mind giving young guys a chance to prove themselves when the games start for real.
