It may not be football season, but Brian Kelly and staff have been hot on the recruiting trails this offseason. Just recently they have handed out multiple offers to players in the 2019 class.

Recruiting season is heating up, signing day is just around the corner. So naturally Brian Kelly and the rest of his staff have been handing out offers to players like it’s halloween and they’re handing out candy. Just recently Notre Dame has handed out offers to Nick Henrich, Osi Ekwonu, Elijah Higgins, and Demariyon Houston.

Let’s give you a breakdown of each player and how they could end up helping the Irish football team in 2020.

More from Da Windy City

Nick Henrich

Henrich is a 6-4 linebacker from Omaha Nebraska who is currently a four-star recruit, according to 247sports. Primarily a 3-4 or a 4-3 linebacker, Henrich could fit in perfectly with the Notre Dame football team. And once the current LB’s on the team graduate, there is a great chance that he finds himself starting for the football team if he chooses to head to South Bend. Along with the Irish, Henrich has offers from plenty of other top D-1 football programs including Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State, Penn State, and Wisconsin.

Elijah Higgins

Coming from Texas, Higgins is used to play with and against top recruits as the state of Texas is a hotbed of Division-1 football talent. He is known for his ability to get up after the ball using his 6-3 frame, with speed that could mimic former Notre Dame receiver Equanimeous St. Brown. As a four-star receiver, Higgins is getting plenty of interest and he deserves it. He also holds offers from Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, and Louisville among many others.

Demariyon Houston

Another receiver, Demariyon Houston could join Elijah Higgins in the class of 2020 commits if he chooses to attend Notre Dame. As a high four-star recruit, Houston is skyrocketing up many teams boards. As of this latest offer from the Irish, he is up to 13 D-1 offers. That includes offers from Oklahoma State, Missouri, Iowa State, taand Ole Miss.

Osita Ekwonu

Recently Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea offered Osita Ekwonu, a linebacker from the state of North Carolina. Despite the slow recruiting for Ekwonu, the offers have picked up as of late. He has recently fielded offers from many schools, including Syracuse, Michigan, Louisville and North Carolina.

Odds are very high that at least one of these players will accept their offer. Whether that be during this year’s signing period or next years remains to be seen. Head coach Brian Kelly and the rest of the staff would love for it to be this year so they could focus on other needs.
