Chicago Bears vs Minnesota Vikings: 5 players to watch
By Eric Brown
Quarterback: Mitchell Trubisky
The time has finally come, the Chicago Bears have made the decision to start number 2 overall pick Mitchell Trubisky. When the team traded a multitude of draft picks just to move up one spot to take a franchise Quarterback, who they may been able to get without trading, the move was highly scrutinized. Especially since the team had just signed Mike Glennon, who has been nothing but an above average QB during his time in the NFL so far.
During training camp and preseason, coaches and fans were wowed by Mitch’s ability to sling the ball downfield with precise accuracy, something Glennon has shown he cannot do. So far in 2017, Mike Glennon has not even looked like an above average backup. In the first 3 games, his play was so-so, saving his job by somehow beating the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everything came tumbling down in a blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football, he would throw 2 boneheaded interceptions and cough up a fumble, even though the fumble technically wasn’t his fault.
Mitchell Trubisky should bring a new sense of hope for a fan base that is desperately in search of something to root for. The Bears are one of the worst Chicago sports teams, maybe just above the White Sox, but at least they have a few great prospects for the future. Change was needed, and now that the change has finally been made, can Trubisky lead the team the playoffs? Can he even lead the team to a .500 record? We will find out in the coming weeks. Let us know what you are expecting out of Trubisky in the comments below.
