The 2017-2018 Chicago Bulls season will test how patient Bulls fans are

The Chicago Bulls are going to be bad for a while, and fans are going to have to deal with it.

The NBA season is just around the corner, and the rebuilding Chicago Bulls are excited for this season and the future for this organization.

Bulls fans, on the other hand, are not that excited. And that’s probably because they know this season is going to be a mess.

After many years of being a mediocre team, the organization finally picked a direction by trading Jimmy Butler on draft night and rebuilding. Were fans happy about the trade? It all depends on who you talk to. Some fans are happy that the team finally picked a direction, but some fans were angry that they traded the best player on the roster.

Bulls fans want to be heard

The reality is that, while Bulls fans disagree on a lot of stuff, they generally agree on one thing: general manager Gar Forman and vice president John Paxson need to be fired.

Take the #FireGarPax campaign for example.

I had a friend text me one night asking me if I donated money to a GoFundMe page. When I asked what he was talking about, he sent me a link to donate money to put this up:

On July 19th, the billboard went up after the page had over $8,000 in donations. That’s how much people are sick and tired of Forman and Paxson running the Bulls. After all, they made the Bulls what they are now.

Bulls fans are great and are really passionate, but this season is really going to test a lot of them.

Last season, the Bulls led the league in attendance with an average of 21,680. In fact, the Bulls have led the NBA in home attendance for seven straight seasons, selling out their last 307 games in Chicago.

More from Da Windy City

This season, the Bulls are probably going to be the worst team in the league. I don’t even have them winning 17 games this season. If that happens, they’re probably going to lose a lot of fans and money in merchandise and ticket sales this season. I can’t imagine fans buying tickets and selling out home games if that’s the way this team is going to play.

What does the future hold for this team?

Let’s face it, the Chicago Bulls are going to be bad for the next couple of years. Will Fred Hoiberg be the coach for the Bulls in two years? All I can say is: Fred better be worried about this season because he is under a lot of pressure to deliver.

Will Gar Forman and John Paxson be fired soon? Probably not, because they seem to have a lifetime contract. You can’t even find on the internet how long Gar and Paxson are signed to be with the Bulls. But maybe after today, the Bulls are finally shaking things up in the front office enough to make some changes.

Next: Could Doug Collins hire mean change is coming to Bulls?

Yes, the Chicago Bulls finally picked a direction in the offseason, but it comes with a huge risk. The next couple of years are going to really test Bulls fans.

I’m a die-hard Bulls fan, so I will continue to watch my team every night. I understand that they are not going to be good, but I want to see players developing. I want to see players fighting for each other, giving it their all every night and not quitting on each other. But it’s not going to be easy.

Get ready, Bulls fans, because this is going to be a long process. Welcome to the rebuild.
