Dud of the Game: Cody Whitehair

While one game shouldn’t make people doubt Whitehair, it’s fair to wonder whether or not his bouncing around the offensive line has affected him this offseason.

He committed a couple unfortunate holding penalties, including one that killed a promising third quarter drive. Then, on that same drive, he snapped a ball at Glennon’s feet, forcing him to scoop the ball and throw it away.

Has having to fill in at guard with Kyle Long hampered his preparation to play center? Hard to say. Whatever the issue was, the Chicago Bears need better play from him immediately. With no room for error as it is, they can’t afford him being any less than his Pro Bowl-caliber best.

Glennon was bee-lining for this list until he put up a solid last couple of drives. I am of the unpopular opinion that he was not actually the reason the Bears lost this afternoon. But don’t mistake that for me saying he played well. Because aside from those last two drives, he really didn’t.

The Chicago Bears will hope for a better outcome next Sunday against Glennon’s old team, the Tampa Bay Buccanneers.
