Offensive grades from the Chicago Bears win over the Tennessee Titans
Receivers/Tight Ends: B+
I thought it was a tremendous showing for this unit in the Chicago Bears win over the Tennessee Titans.
Cameron Meredith had a tremendous diving 28-yard catch, but now that he likely tore his ACL, the Chicago Bears will have to adjust. Kevin White is going to have to step up and become the number one wide receiver that he was drafted to be. Can he do it? Well, he showed flashes in the Titans game with two catches for 30 yards. He needs to build off of this game, and translate it into regular season success.
Kendall Wright, who had three catches for 35 yards against his former team, looked fast. He is going to have a big role in this offense out of the slot, especially with Meredith out. He was targeted early and often by Mike Glennon.
Tight end Dion Sims had a nice toe tap one-yard touchdown catch from Mike Glennon. He was wide open on the play-action.
Undrafted wide receiver Tanner Gentry made his one catch of the game count. It was a 45-yard deep pass that was dropped right into his hands by Mitchell Trubisky. He did a nice job getting separation from the Tennessee Titans’ cornerback to make the catch. Gentry looks like he has a legitimate shot at sticking to the roster, with the injury to Cam Meredith.
However, it was not entirely perfect by receiving unit. Victor Cruz, who is fighting for a roster spot, needs to make every catch that touches his hands. This includes helping out your young quarterback after he does a great job of moving away from pressure.

That drop is not going to help Victor Cruz make this team. I am not saying he is going to get cut because of that drop, but his spot on the roster is certainly in jeopardy. I am sure that he will play quite a bit of the final preseason game against the Cleveland Browns, which will allow Ryan Pace and company to get one last look at him.
