Bears vs. Titans Preseason Week 3: Preview, Game Time and More
How and when to watch the Chicago Bears NFL preseason Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
The third week of the preseason is typically the most important for NFL teams. In this “dress rehearsal” game, the Chicago Bears will take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon, with the starters expected to play more than half of the game.
Quarterback intrigue
The quarterbacks are far and away the most interesting part of this game for the Chicago Bears. Mike Glennon will once again get the start and he will play the entire first half as he prepares for the regular season opener two weeks away. However, we should also get a good look at rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky who will start the second half for the Bears and get at least a drive or two with the first-team offense.
Hopefully, the Titans keep their first-team defense on the field to start the second half so we can see Trubisky in action with real NFL players on his side and against him. If so, this will be our first opportunity to properly evaluate what Trubisky can do on the football field.
Through two games, Trubisky has looked like a much better quarterback than Glennon, but it has been tough to compare the two players. Glennon has played primarily with the Bears’ starters and against first-team defenses. At the same time, Trubisky has primarily been playing with the Bears’ third-team offense and against backup defenses as well. Trubisky certainly looks the part but it is tough to say for sure in these scenarios.
Chicago is an interesting team with a lot of young talent on both sides of the ball. They do not expect to be competitive in 2017, but they certainly have some upside for the future. In this game, the Bears’ young players will have an opportunity to prove themselves against a strong Titans’ team.
Led by quarterback Marcus Mariota and an attacking defensive unit, the Titans are obvious postseason contenders this year. This will be a great chance for the Bears to size themselves up against a strong opponent.
