Chicago Bears: Watch Mitch Trubisky hit Tanner Gentry for impressive TD
Watch Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky hit fellow rookie Tanner Gentry for a highlight reel touchdown at training camp.
Rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky has been the focus of Chicago Bears training camp. As the most important player for the future of the franchise, that is no surprise.
Trubisky’s struggles with controlling the snap got some attention over the weekend. But for the most part, reports out of Bourbonnais have been positive about the young signal caller.
Trubisky is a talented quarterback who is not expected to see the field much in 2017. However, his ability to improve in this camp setting is extremely important going forward. As soon as Ryan Pace made the big move for Trubisky, his importance to this franchise simply cannot be overstated. In today’s NFL, you need a legitimate franchise quarterback to lead the way.
If Trubisky can become the Bears’ Matt Ryan, they are going to be in good shape. If he becomes the next Blake Bortles, this franchise is in big trouble.
It is tough to evaluate how Trubisky is doing right now. First, we have little information out of camp. Even if we were able to see every snap he was taking and every throw he was making, the training camp setting only tells us so much. We will begin to learn much more about Trubisky when the preseason games begin. However, until then, plays like this are always fun to watch. This video comes to us via Lorin Cox of the Bears Wire.
Undrafted rookie receiver Tanny Gentry makes this play happen, but it is great to see Trubisky giving his receiver a chance to make a play here. That was a perfectly placed ball by Trubisky and an incredible catch by Gentry.
The Chicago Bears signed Gentry almost immediately after the 2017 NFL Draft. He is a big and athletic receiver who, as you can see, goes up and gets the ball extremely well. Gentry is a sleeper to make the Bears’ roster out of camp and could become an extremely important target for Trubisky down the line.
