Chicago Bulls: Signing Antonio Blakeney the right move to make
The Chicago Bulls signing Summer League star Antonio Blakeney to a two-way contract is a strong move to help their rebuild.
The Chicago Bulls front office does not seem to make the right move very often. President John Paxson and general manager Gar Forman are always making head-scratching moves that do not help their team at all. That is why I have a hard time trusting them through this rebuild.
That being said, they were able to get one right on Friday, as they signed guard Antonio Blakeney to a two-way contract.
Blakeney went undrafted out of LSU in the 2017 NBA Draft, but he was an absolute Summer League star for the Bulls. Blakeney averaged 16.8 points and five rebounds per game in Summer League action. He knocked down an incredible 64.3% from three-point range and showed the ability to create his own shot.

A quick and athletic tweener guard, Blakeney is also an impressive ball handler who can commonly get to the rack with ease. He does a great job of attacking the rim and finishes well.
The LSU product does not have the overall playmaking skills to play point guard in the NBA. Also, at 6-foot-4, he does not have ideal size to play the two. That being said, he is a dynamic offensive weapon who could grow into a strong scorer off of the bench. Blakeney will likely always be a tweener without a true position, but simply put, he can put the ball in the basket. I could easily see him growing into a guy who provides a strong scoring punch off of the bench.
When it comes down to it, the Chicago Bulls need as many young and talented players as possible. No matter where they find them, adding impact young talent to the mix is important for this rebuilding organization.

Blakeney is a bit of a one-trick pony, but his scoring ability is legitimate. I do not talk highly of many moves that GarPax makes, but this was a good one. Blakeney undoubtedly has long-term upside with the Chicago Bulls.
