The Chicago Bulls have won consecutive games for the first time this season. It took overtime to get past the Bucks on Thursday and some second-half adjustments to fly by the Pelicans on Saturday, but the team looked better than they have all season long.

These wins did not come from the efforts of veterans Zach Lavine or DeMar DeRozan, however, as you’d expect. These wins are strictly from the hands and efforts of Coby White, and it’s time we start giving him the respect he deserves.

Coby White: number zero on the court for the Chicago Bulls, number one in our hearts.

The stat line for his game on Thursday against the powerhouse Bucks won’t tell you much, but White’s 23 points and 7 assists came in clutch to secure the victory. I have to believe his efforts on Thursday inspired what we saw on Saturday because that night could go down as White’s official “I’m here” game. A game-high 31 points, 6 assists, and 9 (!) rebounds all but swatted the Pelicans right out of the sky. He had a career high 8 three-pointers made and was a perfect 3-3 from the charity stripe.

I’m not one to get excited over one game, but this has been boiling and ready to pop off for quite some time now. We’ve been waiting for that ah-ha moment from White and I believe that time has finally come. Mind you, these efforts did not come from just any scrub team. The Bucks may be considered the favorites in the East and the Pelicans are making a strong case to be a competitor in the west. As the Bulls start to think about the future, it’d be smart to make sure White is in those plans to move forward.

White and the Bulls are going to get another great chance to pop off at home when the struggling Charlotte Hornets visit the United Center on Wednesday.

Next. Zach LaVine to miss one week. dark
