The Chicago Bulls did the most Chicago Bulls thing ever on Saturday losing to the worst team in the league with a playoff spot on the line.

I really wish I was surprised, and I really wish I cared. Ultimately, this is the issue that is facing the Chicago Bulls front office heading into the 2017 offseason. No one cares anymore. Fans do not tolerate mediocre basketball anymore, and it is certainly showing the Twitter reactions to almost every game. As a matter of fact, Bulls announcer Stacey King took to Twitter after the loss Saturday.

The front office this season has sold mediocre basketball paired with a rebuild (never works). The Bulls never have high enough draft picks to draft potential quality players. Drafting in the 14-15 range will never give this fan base enough excitement for anyone to care.

Denzel Valentine, Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic, Bobby Portis, and Tony Snell have been the draft selections since 2013. None of these players are amounting to anything, and this front office now has a bigger problem than a mad fan base. They have only one tradable piece remaining to try to acquire talent, and that piece is Jimmy Butler.

More from Chicago Bulls

Do I think the Bulls will trade Butler? No, because that’s the smart thing to do. Every single thing you think this front office should do, they don’t. It’s clear there is a divide in the front office, and all of this will come to a head on draft night when Paxson says, “Trade Butler.” Forman obviously won’t want to trade Butler, and we will be right back here in the same position next season.

I really do not see a return to relevancy in the near or long future as long as Gar Forman is calling any shots. Let me remind you that Paxson drafted Gibson and Butler, not Forman. The Chicago Bulls are in this position because of a front office (mostly Forman) that does not care about its fan base. They care about selling seats, and they will because it’s Chicago. Truthfully, I believe the Bulls won’t make the playoffs, and AGAIN will have the 14th pick in the draft.

Next: Bulls Will Reportedly Trade Jimmy Butler this Offseason

This front office is failing not only the fans but also the coach. The roster is putrid, but not bad enough to get a high draft pick. Hoiberg needs shooters, this roster has none. This roster only needs two point guards, it has four. Everything about this roster is a failure, and it really looks like this front office does not care at all. Maybe one day these fans will care about Bulls basketball again, but it will take a Butler trade in June to do it.
