Chicago Blackhawks Storm Back To Beat Colorado: Recap, Highlights and More
The Chicago Blackhawks traveled back home Sunday night to face-off against the Colorado Avalanche. The Blackhawks would make a late push in the third period to gain two more points in the standings.
The Chicago Blackhawks pushed their division lead to seven points tonight after coming back and beating the Colorado Avalanche at the United Center. The Avalanche were clicking on all cylinders for the first two and a half periods, yet it still seemed like the Blackhawks were in control of the game the entire time despite going down 3-1 heading into the third period.
The Blackhawks would get a controversial goal from Jonathan Toews off a redirect from a Duncan Keith shot. The Avalanche would challenge that Toews was off sides and not win the challenge. After that goal it was all down hill for the Avalanche as Richard Panik would tie the game 17 seconds later. Artemi Panarin and Toews would add two more goals respectively and within a matter of three minutes, the Blackhawks would find themselves in complete control of the game.
Not only did the Blackhawks offense come up big in the third period, so did goaltender Scott Darling. Darling would find himself in a couple sticky situations and make some amazing saves keeping the game within reach for his teammates. Darling came into tonight’s game 5-0 in his last five starts.
The Blackhawks are on fire as of late and they have not looked back since taking over first place in the division. The Minnesota Wild are struggling and are now looking up at Chicago as the Hawks lead them by seven points with 10 games remaining on the season.
