Chicago Bears Daily 2017 NFL Draft Prospects: Temple Linebacker Haason Reddick
The daily Chicago Bears draft target series continues with a look at Temple linebacker Haason Reddick.
You may think the Chicago Bears linebacker group is set, but you might want to think twice when you see a player like Haason Reddick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The Bears have injuries issues at both outside and inside linebacker. Nobody knows how inside linebacker Danny Trevathan‘s health will be going forward and outside linebacker Lamar Houston has a history of ACL injuries.

This makes Reddick a prospect the Chicago Bears should target. If he comes to Chicago, it won’t be as the third overall, but if someway he is available in the second round, Reddick would be a huge pick up.
He is a strong and fast linebacker who could do a lot of damage on the outside rushing the quarterback, giving a lot of trouble to the opposing offensive line. He is also mean, tough and instinctive enough to be a great run stopper. Reddick also has the speed and athleticism to chase tight ends down the middle. He is everything you want, just like Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ryan Shazier. He would be the heart and the soul of this defense from day one.
In 2016, Reddick finished with 21.5 tackles for a loss, this is pretty impressive. He also had nine and a half sacks. That shows how strong his pass rushing skills are. If the Bears want to place him opposite of Leonard Floyd, the two would make a great young duo that should strike fear into opposing quarterbacks.

But what most teams will like about Reddick is his extreme versatility. If Trevathan misses games, Reddick could be placed in the middle and be a nightmare. A well-rounded player who has a bright future at the next level.
Reddick is considered undersized for the position that he plays and he also had some off-field issues during his career with the Temple Owls. He and fellow teammate offensive lineman Dion Dawkins got into a fight in a nightclub in March of 2015. He was not suspended from the altercation, but there will obviously be teams who will have an issue with this. Will the Chicago Bears be one of them?

Reddick’s stock went up big time at the Senior Bowl last month. He was one of the most talented players on the field all week, and showed elite ability as an inside linebacker. With a strong showing at the combine, Reddick will be a possible first round selection. If he happens to slip to the second, the Chicago Bears should put him under heavy consideration.
