Report: Jimmy Butler doesn’t trust Chicago Bulls’ front office
An ESPN report suggests that Jimmy Butler does not trust the Chicago Bulls’ front office.
Another day, another story that indicates there is drama within the Chicago Bulls’ organization
ESPN radio host Ryen Russillo shared a story on “Mike and Mike” on Wednesday morning regarding why Jimmy Butler does not trust the Bulls’ front office. In short, at some point during the season before Butler signed his max contract extension with the Bulls, Russillo reports that Butler was told by a member of the Bulls’ front office that the team was going to play Tony Snell over him as a way to suffocate his market value.
This story, if true, is simply unbelievable. The fact that the Bulls would go to great lengths such as playing Snell over Butler to suppress Butler’s market value is purely depressing. Depressing because it shows just how inept the Bulls’ front office is.

When asked about the report on Wednesday, Butler didn’t necessarily make a full denial.
“I’ll tell it to you like this. That s**t happened so long ago I didn’t think it was a matter of anything,” Butler said. “We went into contract negotiations. I said I would hoop and play the year out. I did that, had a decent little year. We won’t go into detail about what was said, what wasn’t said, it’s not anybody’s business.”
“We got a deal done, I thought it was a fair deal. That’s that,” Butler said. “But for anybody to say this or say that…I don’t know. To tell you the truth, I don’t remember what went on. My agent was in there handling the majority of it. And then, my main thing was to just worry about basketball so I can’t tell you what was said or what wasn’t. One, because it was so long ago, and two, because it ain’t y’all business anyways.”
Every once in a while there comes a story in sports that is so crazy that it has to be true. That is the feeling that this Butler-Bulls’ front office story has. Not to mention, the story would explain a lot as far as why there is constant tension between Butler and the Bulls’ front office.

The tension needs to be addressed this off-season. For the Bulls, it is seemingly coming down between choosing between Butler or the current front office. Whatever decision the Chicago Bulls make will have a lasting impact on their organization.
