What does this mean for the Chicago Bulls’ future?

There should be a lot of soul-searching this offseason by the players. There are some in that locker room who did not play up to par. The team had far too many losses to sub-.500 teams and that goes to effort, and that is something NO coach can do anything about.

The players have to have the pride and professionalism to play hard every game and not play down to their competition.

Some say that perhaps Fred Hoiberg should be on the hot seat, but that is not the case. He needs to get a fair shot with his type of players.

I can point out the Boston Celtics and their head coach, Brad Stevens.

More from Da Windy City

In his first season as coach, Stevens’ Celtics won just 25 games, and many questioned whether Stevens was in over his head in the pro game. Now in his third season, the Celtics are thirteen games above .500, and Stevens is considered one of the best young coaches in the NBA.

Give Hoiberg the same chance.

Gar Forman and John Paxson will make sure he gets that chance. They did not take a big gamble firing Thibodeau to have a coach that fails without being given every chance to succeed. If Hoiberg fails, then GarPax fails as well.

Hopefully, Rose and Butler can fix whatever ails them on the court. As we saw with the Houston Rockets, when a team’s top two players cannot play well together, it can bring its fortunes from a Conference championship finals one season to missing the playoffs altogether the next.

Let’s see what changes happen over the summer. If the same thing happens again and we are talking about the same things next season, then it may be time to worry about the road the Chicago Bulls are taking.
