Similar to Jimmy Butler, Mike Dunleavy Jr. missed two preseason games due to injury. Even with missing a pair of games, Dunleavy did his part during the six games he saw action in: shoot the three-ball and defend.
Dunleavy did both fairly well. In the six games, Dunleavy shot 11-for-25 from deep (44%) and his TS% only trailed Jimmy Butler’s 67.9% (62.8%).
The key to Dunleavy’s season is simply his shooting. When his shots are falling, the spacing becomes even better for the Bulls offensively with Rose’s penetration into the lane.
Dunleavy won’t get a ton of credit for his defense, but he’s a savvy defender who can guard the wing better than most expect he can at this point in his career.
