One of the “Core Four” prospects for the Cubs, Javier Baez is currently Baseball Prospectus’ no.4 prospect in the MLB. Baez has all the makings of a bonafide superstar, and at a position that every team would love to have the situation that the Cubs have, too many good young players.

As we’ve seen in New York, a great shortstop can be a cash cow, and having Baez and Starlin Castro can be huge for the struggling team. While plenty of teams continue to search for the answer at shortstop, the question with the Cubs is which future star will have to move positions so they can both play on a daily basis?

Baez will be a fan favorite as soon as he reaches the major league club, and if that’s this season in September or next season in March, his jersey should sell quickly from the second he debuts, and just continue to rise in sales on a yearly basis.
