The fact that Murakami has reached 20+ home runs before June continues one of the most productive starts to the season, especially when it comes to rookies. The White Sox have consistently leaned on his power, and for good reason.
It's not every day you see a rookie adjusting to the MLB this quickly, nor this effectively. Murakami hasn't looked overwhelmed one bit, and he's been aces under pressure. The immediate success the White Sox are seeing is no small thing, and it makes perfect sense why the fan base is already calling for him to be extended.
The White Sox remain within striking distance of the division through the first two months of the season. This is quite a step above the expectations everyone had coming into this season. Manager Will Venable has repeatedly stated that the goal of the season was to develop the core of the team. Hunting for the division is just a bonus.
