The trade deadline has arrived! With Major League Baseball reaching that critical juncture today, the White Sox have added relief pitcher Huascar Brazobán. Coming from the Mets, Brazoban has posted a 2.56 ERA in 2026 with the Mets, a feat he's achieved over the course of 46 games.
By all accounts, unless the White Sox and Brazoban get a deal done for some sort of extension, this is a short term deal. With Brazoban likely a rental, the White Sox should be looking to make a push for the pennant, and get as much use out of Brazoban as they possibly can.

We all knew the White Sox were going to be buyers at the deadline, but does that mean it's a mistake to sell some of the farm in exchange for real major league value now? It's the age old debate. Brazoban has five years of MLB experience under his belt with the Mets and the Marlins. This move gives the White Sox another reliable arm that can truly eat innings when the White Sox need him to most.
The deadline is always exciting, but most of the time, people are analyzing the acquisitions. Especially when your team is a buyer, most people aren't looking at what was just lost. The far system is something that genuinely needs to be protected, especially for a young team like the White Sox. The farm system is basically Chris Getz's super power.
So how much did the White Sox give away for Brazobán? The Sox sent Gave Davis, the White Sox number 18 prospect according the the MLB Pipeline. Davis struggled with his MLB debut, going 0-5 and posting a 5.81 ERA.
The White Sox also gave up Zach Franklin, another young pitcher in the system yet to make his debut in the MLB. For the White Sox to trade both of these players now for a 36 year old reliever is clear intention for value now.
The price only makes sense if Brazobán becomes a dependable piece of the bullpen throughout the pennant race. Chicago has made its intentions clear, and now its newest reliever must make the gamble worthwhile.
