After a 5-12 season, it may be difficult for Chicago Bears fans to become invested in Super Bowl LIX. Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles is highly anticipated but the hype in Chicago probably revolves around prop bets, food and the potential of catching a glimpse of Taylor Swift.
But outside of the pop megastar supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce, there may be other moments that turn Bears fans into the “Pointing Rick Dalton” meme and give Chicago a mild rooting interest when the two teams kick off on Sunday evening.

Eagles Elevate Two Former Bears Ahead of Super Bowl LIX
The Eagles have elevated two former members of the Bears ahead of Sunday’s game including fullback Khari Blasingame and linebacker Nicholas Morrow. Both players served on the Eagles practice squad entering Sunday and will be eligible to play as Philadelphia looks to win its second Super Bowl.
Blasingame joined the Bears after spending three seasons with the Tennessee Titans in 2022. The 28-year-old served the dying role of a fullback in Chicago’s offense, posting a run blocking grade of 63.7 and 68.2 in his first two years with the Bears but his snap count dropped from a career-high 186 to 10 snaps this season according to Pro Football Focus.
Blasingame was released by the Bears in October and latched on with the Eagles, but it hasn’t translated into more playing time as he logged five total snaps across four games.
Morrow had a larger role during his time in Chicago, signing as a free agent in 2022. Starting at linebacker, Morrow recorded 116 total tackles including 11 for loss and an interception in 17 games and signed with Philadelphia the following offseason.
While the 29-year-old played in 15 games for Philadelphia with 95 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and three sacks, he left for a reserve role with the Buffalo Bills this season before he was waived on Jan. 2. He returned to Philadelphia after Nakobe Dean suffered a season-ending injury in a Wild Card win over the Green Bay Packers and played five snaps in the NFC Championship win over the Washington Commanders.
The activation of two former Bears isn’t likely to revive a fan base that slumped through a tough season. But it’s something to watch even if fans are more focused on Caleb Williams development or Ben Johnson’s arrival ahead of the 2025 season.
