Two Bears Trade Candidates Look Like Goners After Sunday's News
There is quite a bit of trade chatter surrounding the Chicago Bears as they enter their Week 8 matchup against the Washington Commanders. With Chicago sitting at 4-2 and eyeing a return to the postseason, GM Ryan Poles is in full roster-optimization mode in order to best set up his squad for the second half of the year.
Several Bears players are potential candidates to be on the move ahead of the Nov. 5 deadline, and Chicago's roster decisions for Week 8 hint at two guys who might be heading elsewhere.
Chicago opted to make guard Nate Davis inactive for the second straight game on Sunday despite him not dealing with any kind of injury issue. The same, somewhat surprisingly, goes for running back Khalil Hebert -- who's a healthy scratch for the first time in his career.
Both Davis and Herbert are obvious trade chips the Bears could use to improve either their roster or their draft capital at the deadline. This pair has fallen out of favor in the Windy City, and a playoff contender like Chicago can't afford to waste valuable depth spots on its roster on guys it doesn't believe in.
Considering the lack of offensive line talent across the league, it's no surprise Davis' name has been brought up numerous times in recent weeks. With five seasons of being a full-time starter under his belt, the veteran is a clear target for any team in need of player it can immediately plug in.
Meanwhile, Herbert is the type of electric playmaker contenders like to take chances on for a boost in the second half of the year. After posting back-to-back seasons of over 700 yards from scrimmage, Hebert could be pursued by a squad hoping for some extra juice in the backfield.
