After their terrible Thanksgiving Day loss to the Detroit Lions, the Chicago Bears finally parted ways with head coach Matt Eberflus. To replace Eberflus, Chicago named offensive coordinator Thomas Brown as its interim head coach.

Bears fans were excited about the prospects of Brown taking over as the head coach as he had to be better than Eberflus. However, the Brown era got off to a not-so-great start as the Bears lost 38-13 to the San Francisco 49ers last week.

It was another disappointing performance from the Bears, who are on their way to possibly locking down another top-10 pick in the NFL Draft. That said, Brown is changing things this week to hopefully get his squad back on track.

On Thursday, ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported that Chicago is making Wednesday’s practices as walkthroughs to help keep bodies fresh.

This is an interesting change for a team struggling to win a game this late into the season. But Brown must believe his guys need a break and additional rest to be at their best.

We will see how this change affects the Bears this week as they don’t play until Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings. On the other hand, this change to walkthroughs on Wednesdays could be looked at as Chicago playing out the string.

The Bears haven’t been eliminated yet from the playoffs even with a 4-9 record. However, they have a long road ahead to even get into contention. Chicago is closer to a top-5 pick in the draft as they are sitting at ninth, per Tankathon.

Chicago fans don’t want a draft pick in the top 10 again for another year, but it might be in their best interest to get into that range to hopefully acquire another talented playmaker. The Bears could use another pass rusher opposite Montez Sweat or move their first-round pick to acquire more talent.
