News around the NFL is going to pick up during the month of March. The NFL Scouting Combine just wrapped up in Indianapolis, and the next thing on the league calendar is free agency.

The legal tampering period begins on March 10 at 11 a.m. CST. Bears fans will be focused on what moves their team makes, but they will also be looking to see how former players shake out. One ex-Bear who still has the attention of the fanbase is quarterback Justin Fields.

He is slated to become a free agent but some news around him has been revealed. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Fields will have some suitors in free agency, which includes heading back to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He wrote, "The sense I get is that Justin Fields has an edge over Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh's free agent quarterback pecking order. There is sentiment for Fields in the building, and both sides would be open to a return. The Steelers have at least another week to crystallize those plans, and they certainly haven't ruled out Wilson at this point. Regardless, Fields should have options. The Jets, for one, are expected to gauge his market. His skillset would fit in Chip Kelly's scheme in Las Vegas, too."

Justin Fields Will Have Multiple Suitors in Free Agency

Last March, Chicago traded Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 2025 sixth-round pick. He started six games for the Steelers, going 4-2 in those outings. He went 106-161 (65.8%) for 1,106 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, and one interception. In addition, he added 289 rushing yards and five scores on the ground.

He ended up getting benched in favor of Russell Wilson, but the Steelers flamed out towards the tail end of the season. Since both quarterbacks are going to hit free agency, the Steelers are leaning toward the younger Fields for 2025.

Fowler also named the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets as options. The Raiders have Chip Kelly as the new offensive coordinator and Fields is a kind of player who can excel in that system.

The Jets are also an option after parting ways with Aaron Rodgers. Fields could be an interesting choice for them in 2025. His connection with Garrett Wilson from their days at the Ohio State University plays a factor, as well as his dual-threat ability.

Regardless, Fields will have options during free agency as teams gear up for the 2025 season.
