Chicago Bears fans fondly remember former NFL receiver Muhsin Muhammad II, who played three years in the Windy City after spending the first nine years of his career with the Carolina Panthers.

Muhammad II made a name for himself with the Panthers, but continued to play well later into his career with the Bears and later again with Carolina for one more stint. In three seasons with the Bears, the veteran wide receiver had 164 receptions (334 targets) for 2,183 yards and 12 TDs.

Muhammad II had 64 receptions (136 targets) for 750 yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the Bears in 2005. Then in 2006, the veteran wide receiver had his best year in Chicago with 60 receptions (117 targets) for 863 yards and five touchdowns.

So when Bears fans saw the name Muhsin Muhammad III pop up after the 2025 NFL Draft, they immediately connected the dots to the former Bear. Muhammad III went undrafted following the 2025 draft but latched on with the Carolina Panthers.

However, Muhammad III aka Little “Moose,” didn’t spend much time on the Panthers’ 90-man roster as they waived him with an injury designation, per Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer. Kaye adds that Muhammad III will revert to injured reserve if he goes unclaimed.

The younger Muhammad played his college football at Texas A&M, where he had 81 receptions for 1,163 yards and 12 touchdowns in five seasons. Muhammad III’s best season at Texas A&M was in 2022.

It will be interesting to see if Muhammad III will play sometime this season, whether in Carolina or another team, if he gets claimed off waivers. The 5-foot-11 wideout has good quickness and lateral agility, which helps him get open against 1-on-1 coverage. He also has strong hands at the catch point and through contact.

Bears fans hope they’ll see Moose Muhammad III play in the NFL soon and maybe one day in Chicago.
