With the 2024 regular season officially in the rearview mirror, many teams across the league are signing various practice squad players to reserve/future contracts for next season.

After their shocking Week 18 win over Green Bay, the Bears signed 10 players to reserve/future contracts. The Bears hope some of these guys can make the 53-man roster or stick on the practice squad.

However, Chicago did not sign five practice squad players to future deals, including rookie cornerback Reddy Steward.

It was shocking to see the Bears not sign Steward to a reserve/future deal after he appeared in Chicago’s Week 9 road game against the Arizona Cardinals. The rookie defensive back played 19 snaps (18 defensive) in that contest, where he had a tackle and a forced fumble.

Steward made a name for himself in training camp and preseason, which caught the attention of the Bears’ brass to get him on the practice squad.

The former Troy standout had 14 combined tackles and two interceptions (one defensive touchdown) in the preseason. But for whatever reason, Chicago didn’t want to bring him to minicamp/training next season.

Bears News: Reddy Steward Signs Reserve/Future Deal With Vikings

However, there’s a small chance Steward could see the Bears twice next season. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, the former Bears cornerback signed a reserve/future deal with the Minnesota Vikings. Numerous teams in the league were reportedly pursuing Steward, adds Wilson.

The 23-year-old cornerback will try to make the 53-man roster with the Vikings, who had their postseason run cut short. The 14-win Vikings got humiliated by the Los Angeles Rams in an 18-point loss in primetime in the wild-card round.

As things currently stand, Steward has an uphill climb to make the Vikings' 53-man roster in 2025. But Minnesota obviously sees something in the former Bear that makes them want to bring him to camp.
