Potential Nahshon Wright-Bears Split Might Be Less Likely After Performance vs. Rams

In the wake of the Chicago Bears' 20-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round, Nahshon Wright stands out as one of the several silver linings the team can take solace in after an honorable defeat.

When the heat was on in the team's most important game of the season, Wright stepped up and limited Davante Adams and Puka Nacua to just one catch in three targets. On the one catch Adams had, Wright moved him backwards a yard.

Coverage was tight. Wright kept Matthew Stafford looking elsewhere. It was an ideal night. And the best part? It was the proof that Ryan Poles and Co. needed to bring Wright back -- and it won't cost them much due to Wright's struggles coming into this game.

Wright allowed five catches for 43 yards and a touchdown on six targets against the Green Bay Packers during the team's miraculous 31-27 NFC Wild Card Round win. His regular-season counting stats didn't paint an encouraging picture despite the hype his name garnered in his first audition as a full-fledged starter: 60 catches for 813 yards and six touchdowns on 98 targets for opposing receivers while covered by Wright.

That's the full picture when it comes to Wright, not just the one painted by his league-leading five interceptions. It's what should keep him in the Windy City for the foreseeable future, though.

Bears Can't Give Up on Nahshon Wright After Overall Impact in 2025

Talking big picture, losing a guy like Wright, of course, if the price doesn't get out of hand, would be an unpopular result for fans who just saw their team force overtime in a game they barely lost to a top NFC franchise.

Chicago didn't just make it within reach of the NFC Championship Game. The Bears showed heart and togetherness, banding together under the highest scrutiny in games they were losing, to win or almost win.

Chicago bent, but never broke, and became a team you can't break up. Obviously, certain players will come and go. Wright wasn't just another guy, though, nearly making the Pro Bowl and having Micah Parsons complain that he didn't.

An offseason after a deep run isn't easy on a team, and a few key decisions will make or break this team's trajectory. In an increasingly competitive NFC North, those decisions are under a microscope.

It cannot be stressed enough that the market has the most sway in what happens next. With that said...

If the price is right, the Bears must re-sign Wright.
