When the Chicago Bears go on the clock during Thursday’s NFL Draft, they’ll introduce a new player to one of the NFL’s most demanding franchises. The Bears haven’t won a division title since 2018 and have just one winning season dating back to 2012. While Caleb Williams provides some hope, the player they select with the 10th overall pick will be under the microscope, especially as the first selection of the Ben Johnson era.

So how does a draft prospect get ahead before going to Chicago? By insulting the Green Bay Packers.

The Bears and the Packers have one of the NFL’s most heated rivalries. It’s so intense that a Week 18 victory at Lambeau Field that appeared meaningless to the rest of the league had Bears fans celebrating like they won the Super Bowl at the end of a 5-12 season. Even Johnson endeared himself to his new fan base by insulting Matt LaFleur during his introductory press conference and a draft prospect may have just punched his ticket to Chicago during his interactions with reporters on Wednesday.

Ashton Jeanty States the Obvious About Green Bay

Jeanty descended upon Green Bay with the rest of the NFL on Wednesday as the league conducts its draft this weekend. While he declared the Bears would be making a good investment if they decided to trade up for him on Thursday night, he also stated the obvious about the host city.

“[It’s a] calm place,” Jeanty said while holding back his laughter. “There’s not much to do here. Nice, big football stadium right by the suburbs, so…”

Some would say Green Bay looks like a metropolis to the Boise State star and who could disagree? The city has plenty of entertainment options outside of Lambeau Field including a plethora of segway tours, the Bay Beach Amusement Park (with 25 cent rides) and the Green Bay Botanical Garden. There’s also two Applebee’s and a Dave & Buster’s which is all Marshawn Lynch needed to have a good time in Buffalo.

But if Jeanty had his way, he would limit his future experience in Green Bay to work trips. Chicago could be looking for a running back in this year’s draft and Johnson would love to pair Jeanty with current starter D’Andre Swift. After deploying Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery in Detroit, a two-headed monster could help the 21-year-old have more eventful trips to northeastern Wisconsin and give the Bears a new ally in the battle against their biggest rivals.
