The Chicago White Sox entered the regular season as one of the worst teams in the majors and lost two key players to injury. This week alone, the White Sox placed veterans Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert Jr. on the 10-day injured list with adductor and hip injuries.

Chicago didn’t have a ton of power in its lineup coming into the season, now you take Jimenez and Robert Jr. out of the equation it's hard to see the White Sox scoring a ton of runs.

As for Robert Jr., the White Sox are concerned about his availability going forward as he might have a longer stay on the 10-day IL.

White Sox Rumors: Luis Robert Jr. Could Miss Multiple Months With Hip Injury

Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY wrote on Sunday that the White Sox “privately believe” that Robert Jr. could be out for 3-4 months with a Grade 2 hip flexor strain. Nightengale adds that Chicago will explore the free-agent market for reinforcements and mentions veteran Tommy Pham as an ideal fit.

If the veteran outfielder is out for an extended period that doesn’t bode well for a White Sox offense scoring 1.63 runs per game (ranked dead last in the majors). Meanwhile, Robert Jr. is hitting .214 with two doubles, two home runs, and four RBI in seven games this season.

The 29-year-old Robert is coming off a ridiculous 2023 season that saw him slug .264 with 38 home runs (career-high) and 80 RBI. Without Robert patrolling centerfield, the White Sox will look for Dominic Fletcher to provide offense and defense until another option appears.
