The Chicago Bears won but our betting strategy broke even at best. Last week, we went 3-3 for our betting advice. The Bears won, albeit not in the way anyone wanted it to happen, with a defensive gem, which covered the spread.

However, the offense was dismal, which greatly impacted our betting tactics. Caleb Williams had a terrible statistic day, not even eclipsing 100 yards in the air. Good thing we advised to not bet on him.

However, we said that DJ Moore (5 receptions for 36 yards) and Cole Kmet (1 catch for 4 yards) were good bets, and that clearly did not work out.

D'Andre Swift started out pretty strong, was then stifled, and then came on at the end, but did not eclipse the 50 yards we predicted.

As Williams' day was unforgettable, all the wide receivers suffered an equally poor stat line. We said to hold off betting on Rome Odunze (1 catch for 11 yards) and Keenan Allen (4 catches for 29 yards) and we were right.

On to Week 2. All odds by Draft Kings.

Betting the Game

After last week, the oddsmakers at Draft Kings are very pessimistic about the Chicago Bears. The Bears are six-point underdogs, though the payout is only -108. However, the Moneyline is brutal, paying out +210 for the Bears and -258 for the Houston Texans. Clearly, nobody is expecting the Bears to win.

We know the Houston Texans are no Tennessee Titans as the Texans were unexpectedly a playoff team last year and CJ Stroud had an amazing rookie season. Adding WR Stefon Diggs to their arsenal was a not-too-shabby acquisition. Oh, and RB Joe Mixon had a career day in his debut with the Texans.

This game will be difficult for the Bears.

However, we are still only one game into the season, and nobody knows exactly which way is up just yet. The Texans will get their points. But we are feeling pretty good about the Bears defense right now. Will the offense click on the national stage on Sunday Night Football? Indianapolis put 27 points on Houston last week. We should do the same.

As Bears, fans, let's say yes. The Bears will cover this Sunday.

Results: Take the Bet, Bears +6 at -108 (I might also take the Moneyline with the Bears as a flier, though you should not, just because the Bears are in first place, this is a pure emotional bet).
