The Chicago Bears will be looking to upgrade their offense this offseason, as all signs point to them taking USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick.

To kick off free agency, the Bears added veteran running back D’Andre Swift to bolster their backfield. Swift will help in the receiving game, but Chicago still needs to look for a WR2 after unrestricted free agent Darnell Mooney signed a three-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday.

Henry McKenna of FOX Sports reported Tuesday that the free agent wide receiver Gabe Davis received a similar offer from the Bears, but he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While it’s disappointing to hear that the Bears couldn’t land Davis, who would be the perfect deep-threat option to pair with No. 1 wide receiver D.J. Moore. It’s encouraging to see that the Bears are doing their due diligence to upgrade the receiver room.

Chicago knows for them to have success in 2024, they must get another option in the passing game to help out whoever starts at quarterback and Moore.

This past season, we saw the effect Moore had on the Bears’ offense and Justin Fields. The former Carolina Panthers wideout recorded a career-high 96 receptions (136 targets) for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns.

The good news for the Bears is that the free agent wide receiver market is moving slowly, so there’s still a chance that they could add Curtis Samuel, Marquise Brown, Tyler Boyd, etc.
