The Chicago Bears have begun trimming their training camp roster from 90 to 53 players before Tuesday’s deadline.

The Bears had one of the best preseasons in recent history as they went 4-0, which included a 34-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. However, results don’t mean much in preseason as it's more about player growth and guys competing for roster spots.

Some players who will be cut over the next 24-36 hours will find their way back to the Windy City via the practice squad, while others will look for opportunities elsewhere in the NFL.

As of right now, we already know of one Bears player who could be playing somewhere else before Week 1.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC-2, Chicago waived offensive lineman Ja’Tyre Carter on Monday. However, Carter is expected to receive interest from other teams on waivers.

Carter has spent the last two seasons in the Windy City as a backup offensive line after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The former Southern standout has played 13 games over that stretch, including 10 last season.

The 6-foot-3 offensive lineman started in two games in 2023 (Weeks 2 and 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs) for an injured Teven Jenkins.

For a seventh-round pick offensive lineman, Carter has outplayed his draft status and with his experience can help a team looking for a backup tackle or guard.

With Carter out of the picture, the Bears will look to make a few more cuts on the offensive line as they get prepared for Week 1 of the 2024 season.
