Sky Unveil Jersey Numbers for Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso
By Jovan Alford
The Chicago Sky ushered in a new era of hoops on Monday night, selecting Kamilla Cardoso (No.3 overall) and Angel Reese (No. 7 overall) in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft.
Most of the mock drafts heading into Monday’s WNBA draft had the Sky taking Cardoso and Reese, two of the best players in the country this season. Cardoso is coming off a national title and a perfect 38-0 season with the South Carolina Gamecocks, while Reese took LSU to the Elite Eight after winning the national championship in 2022-23.
Based on how they played over the last couple of seasons in college, fans are excited about the future under first-year head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. When the WNBA draft wrapped up on Monday night, fans likely wanted to know when Cardoso and Reese’s jerseys would be revealed after Caitlin Clark’s No. 22 Fever jersey was available to the public.
On Wednesday, the Sky officially announced that Reese will be wearing No. 5 this season, while Cardoso will be rocking No. 10.
Fans on social media wondered who would wear No. 10 in the pros as both players had the same number in college.
Reese, who wore No. 5 at the University of Maryland and Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, Md., is excited about her new jersey, saying “Let’s get a sell out.”
Sky fans will get a chance to see Reese and Cardoso both in action on May 15, when Chicago goes on the road to play the Dallas Wings in the regular season opener.
