Rome Odunze Injury Brings Back Awful Memories for Bears Fans
It's been a great offseason for the Chicago Bears in terms of adding talent to this roster. The Bears massively improved their team, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
Over the past couple of months, Chicago brought in Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, Keenan Allen. D'Andre Swift, and Gerald Everett.
That's a lot of firepower and the fanbase got their first glimpse of the new acquisitions, as rookie minicamps for Chicago were on May 10-11.
It was reported by Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune, that Odunze would sit out the second day of practice due to hamstring tightness.
This news certainly brought some Bears fans back to the dark times of the franchise's history with another first-round WR.
Chicago News: Fans Are Already Overreacting to the Rome Odunze News
You can see plenty of fans responding to this tweet in negative ways. Many of them immediately thought of Kevin White, who was the seventh overall pick by Chicago in the 2015 NFL Draft.
In 2015, White suffered a shin injury during OTAs that was later diagnosed as a stress fracture. That required surgery and forced him to miss his entire rookie year.
After playing in four games during his second season, White fractured the fibula in his left leg, the same leg he hurt in 2015, and he missed the rest of the year.
Things didn't get better for White in his third campaign. In the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, White fractured his left shoulder blade and was again placed on injured reserve.
His Bears career was essentially over after that injury.
Now fast forward seven years later and the Windy City still thinks about that.
While there isn't anything major to worry about with Odunze, you could see why some within the fanbase fell down this rabbit hole and began to think of the ultimate worst-case scenario.
