The Chicago Bears are entering their second offseason in a row that could be labeled as the most important in franchise history. Even after another disappointment in 2023-24, the Bears have a lot of options on the table. As they hold the number one pick and even more in assets entering the upcoming draft, they could do basically anything they wanted to at a lot of different positions.

The two main questions are if the Bears are going to retain quarterback Justin Fields or trade him for assets, and if they are going to hang onto head coach Matt Eberflus or look to move on in a different direction.

One domino has just fallen that might shake up what the Bears think they should do in regards to Eberflus.

Bears Rumors: Mike Vrabel an Obvious Upgrade From Matt Eberflus

Mike Vrabel has just been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Tennessee Titans. He saw much success that the Titans had not seen in quite some time, including a trip to the AFC Championship Game in 2019. But after two straight losing seasons, the Titans are deciding to pivot to a new path.

Vrabel was a player under Bill Belichick in New England during their run of dominance. After retiring, he served as a linebackers coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2011-14. After a couple years in the same role with the Houston Texans, he was promoted to defensive coordinator, where he caught the eye of the Titans for the head coach role.

If the Bears plan to keep a defensive mind at the head coach position, Vrabel is a clear upgrade from Eberflus. They could even retain Eberflus and make him defensive coordinator if they wanted to. It would be unprecedented, but wouldn't that be something?

Hiring Vrabel would boost the confidence of Bears fans everywhere, no matter what else they decided to do.
