The Chicago Bears rolled into free agency as one of the teams with a boatload of cap space. They already agreed to terms with RB D'Andre Swift, tight end Gerald Evertt, safety Kevin Byard, and extended CB Jaylon Johnson.

They aren't done making moves and made another addition in the secondary. The Bears agreed to terms with former Packers safety Jonathan Owens on a two-year, $4.5 million deal.

Bears News: Jonathan Owens Headed to the Windy City

There has been some movement within the division as Aaron Jones left the Packers to join the Minnesota Vikings. Now another former member of the Packers is slated to stay in the division.

This signing is interesting due to the fact that the Bears recently signed Byard and have Jaquan Brisker on the roster. With that being said, you can never have enough capable defenders on the backend.

Owens is better suited when he lines up around the box. The 28-year-old is a willing tackler in the run game but needs better awareness in coverage. Head coach Matt Eberflus has a reputation of developing defensive talent and could be doing that with Owens.

In his three-year career, Owens notched 227 total tackles, eight pass deflections, and one interception.

The Chicago Bears need to ace this offseason to have a legit shot to win the NFC North. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Bears are +300 underdogs to win the division. If you want to take lock-in of these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and claim your sign-up bonus.
