Mel Kiper Floats Mind-Boggling Bears-Falcons Justin Fields Trade

If what one draft "expert" thinks the Falcons would pay for Justin Fields is true, the Bears need to hit the accept button immediately.

The Chicago Bears are in the ultimate conundrum heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, but it is also a position other franchises might be envious of. They sit with the number 1 overall pick, thanks to the disastrous season the Carolina Panthers had. They also have the number 9 overall pick from their own doings.

Sitting with two top-10 picks is a great place to start building a future winner, but the Bears also have a ton of questions to answer before the winning starts.

The biggest question is whether the Bears will draft a quarterback at the top position of the draft or stick with their current guy, Justin Fields. General manager Ryan Poles has said the organization will "turn every stone" before making the final decision in late April. But if an offer we just heard from a draft expert is on the table, the Bears would be foolish to not accept.

Bears Rumors: Mel Kiper Things Justin Fields is Worth a Top-10 Pick

Draft analyst Mel Kiper thinks it is on the table for the Bears to trade Fields to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for the 8th overall pick in the draft. This would give Atlanta a quarterback for the future and the Bears another top-10 selection to continue building a winner around (presumably) a new quarterback of their own.

If this deal is real, Poles should smash that accept button immediately. Remember, the Bears traded up to the 11th overall spot to select Fields in 2021. If the Falcons want to pay a pick 3 spots ahead of that for Fields, who is entering his 4th year in the league, by all means.

I don't think you'll find a single Bears fan out there who thinks this is a realistic deal, but if Poles pulled it off he'd suddenly be the most popular man in Chicago (at least until the Caleb Williams pick became official).
