The Chicago Bears have had an eventful and exciting offseason. They were able to add a bunch of playmakers over the past couple of months to vastly improve this team.

It started in free agency and via the trade market with additions like Keenan Allen and D'Andre Swift to name a few.

Things continued in April when they selected Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze. Now with the regular season less than a month away, head coach Matt Eberflus revealed the Bears may have a surprise role for Odunze.

Bears News: Rome Odunze Has Returned Punts in Training Camp

Kay Adams was at Bears practice on Thursday and saw Odunze returning punts. She asked Eberflus why he's back there since he rarely did it in college but the 54-year-old coach gave a surprising answer.

"He's really good at it. He's dynamic back there and we're gonna see if we can get him a couple of touches in the game. We'll see about that in terms of the other guys too. He's got speed and explosion. And yards after catch you can see that. And he can break tackles so we'll see how it goes."

The traits that Eberflus listed about Odunze aren't shocking. Those played a major role in why he went No. 9 overall but the fact he may be returning punts will catch some people by surprise.

The Washington product is known for being a three-level pass catcher who can bring down those contested catches with ease. He can run crisp routes to create separation from defenders and also ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at the scouting combine.

During his time at the University of Washington, he had 214 receptions for 3,272 receiving yards, and 24 touchdowns.

Even though he isn't known for being a punt returner, things can change at the NFL level. We'll just have to wait and see if he actually gets thrown back there on gameday.
