Marcus Stroman opted out of his contract with the Chicago Cubs to become a free agent. He spent two seasons on the north side, but decided it was best for him to move on. He now has signed a deal with the New York Yankees to join them in the Bronx.

Stroman offered many memorable moments for fans while pitching for the Cubs, including making his first All-Star team in 2023. While his time in Chicago was brief, he still took the time to show his love for the city and the fans of Wrigleyville.

Stroman says goodbye to Chicago

In an Instagram story post after the news broke, Stroman acknowledges Cubs fans and the city of Chicago. He mentions the electricity of pitching at Wrigley Field, his gratitude for the coaches and staff, and being thankful for being part of the club.

Stroman is a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve and is not afraid to show how he's feeling. When he's on, he'll strut around the mound and let you know he feels good. When he's struggling, he's the first one to tell you he needs to be better.

When Stroman returned to Toronto for the first time since being a member of the Blue Jays, he stood by the dugout signing autographs and taking pictures with fans who still love him for an extended amount of time. That should tell you how liked he is by his team's fanbases.

The Yankees are due in Chicago at the beginning of September. While almost all focus will be on Anthony Rizzo's return to Wrigley, expect Stroman to also receive a resounding ovation from Cubs fans.
