The entire NFL world is waiting to see what Kirk Cousins will do as the legal tampering period will begin at noon ET on Monday. The veteran starting quarterback could be the first domino to fall and will directly impact what happens to Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported Monday that Cousins will begin discussions with the Atlanta Falcons when the tampering window opens.

It’s not shocking to see the 36-year-old quarterback talking with the Falcons when the tampering period opens, as much of the offseason talk has connected him to Atlanta.

If you are Bears GM Ryan Poles, you would rather see Cousins stay with the Minnesota Vikings, as the Falcons were viewed as a potential destination for Fields.

Last month, Tyler Dragan of USA TODAY Sports reported that the Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Las Vegas Raiders “have expressed some level of interest in Fields.”

However, that list has dwindled with the Steelers signing Russell Wilson to a one-year deal on Sunday night. And if Atlanta signs Cousins, it leaves the Raiders as the only reported option we know of for Fields.

The Bears would want to move Fields this week as all signs point to the team taking USC QB Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick. However, with this year’s QB draft class being strong, the Bears might need to have a backup plan or two involving the playing future of Fields.
