The 2024 NFL regular season is now in full swing. Two games were already played, with two matchups taking place on Thursday and Friday.

On Sunday, there will be 13 games being played, with the Chicago Bears starting the season against the Tennessee Titans.

Meanwhile, elsewhere around the league, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons are linking up on Sunday.

And the latest report reveals that Justin Fields may have been gifted the perfect opportunity in Week 1.

NFL News: Russell Wilson Not Expected To Play Week 1

According to the Athletic's Dianna Russini, Pittsburgh quarterback Russell Wilson is not expected to play in Week 1 due to a calf injury.

On Thursday and Friday, Wilson was limited in practice and Fields was taking first-team reps. The 35-year-old will be traveling with the team to Atlanta but there is a very good chance that Wilson will not be under center.

This would be a golden opportunity for Fields to revive his NFL career. There was a QB competition that was happening between these two men but Wilson seemingly won the job. Now that he isn't 100%, the former Ohio State standout can show his new club he can be QB1 going forward.

Through three seasons with the Bears, Fields completed 60% of his passes for 6,674 yards with 40 passing touchdowns to 30 interceptions. In addition, he rushed for 2,220 yards with 14 touchdowns. He also went 10-28 as a starter but if he gets the starting nod on Sunday, he has a chance to begin fresh and show the Steelers what he's made of.

This may be his last opportunity to exhibit what he's capable of in the NFL.
