While the Chicago Bears have moved on from the Justin Fields era, that hasn't eradicated talk of the quarterback's tenure in town. Just recently, some less-than-flattering details about Fields' attitude and leadership in 2021 were allegedly revealed by an anonymous source.

And now Fields himself has discussed the Bears once again, revealing more insight on his exit from Chicago.

Fields talked with reporters at the Pittsburgh Steelers' start of OTAs on Tuesday. He said he told the Bears, through his agent, that he wanted to go to the Steelers, not only before they traded for Russell Wilson but after as well.

It's no surprise Fields saw an opportunity in Pittsburgh right after the 2023 campaign concluded. The offense clearly craved a major change under center after former starter Kenny Pickett's lackluster results.

It is a bit surprising Fields insisted on the Steelers after they acquired Wilson, though. That move suddenly put a long-established starter and Super Bowl champion in his way, yet he didn't flinch.

On some level, Fields has to think Wilson isn't going to take the starting job and run with it. Either because Fields takes it from him in training camp, or due to Wilson failing to impress if he does get the first shot under center when the 2024 season kicks off.

That's some impressive confidence, but it's the exact kind of attitude Fields needs in order to improve his image around the league. He should be out to prove everyone wrong, and the first step in doing so is to beating out a big-name veteran in a QB competition.

It remains to be seen if Fields can, in fact, usurp Wilson, but it should be quite the entrainment for those in Chicago to watch either way.
