Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson is coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2023, which led to him signing a massive four-year, $76 million contract extension in March. Chicago will expect Johnson to have another big season and be one of the best players on the defense.

However, before we can look forward to Week 1 of the 2024 season, Johnson has made a small change to his jersey that fans will notice immediately. The NFL Jersey Numbers Twitter account posted Wednesday that Johnson will be wearing No. 1 next season and not No. 33, which has been his number since he entered the league in 2020.

If the No. 1 looks familiar to Bears fans that was the jersey number Justin Fields wore in the Windy City since 2021. Fields was traded this offseason to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Johnson seemingly confirmed the news on Twitter Wednesday night, posting a picture of him at Utah where he wore No. 1.

The 6-foot cornerback had a good three-year career with the Utes, posting 102 total tackles, 21 pass deflections, seven interceptions, three tackles for loss, and two defensive TDs. In his last year at Utah, Johnson recorded 36 total tackles, 11 pass deflections, and two interceptions (a defensive touchdown).

Bears fans hope that Johnson can have a few Pro Bowl seasons in his new jersey as the team looks poised to take that next step with a new franchise quarterback.
